The Graveyard Series

On mounting a rising ground, which brought the figure of his fellow-traveller in relief against the sky, gigantic in height, and muffled in a cloak, Ichabod was horror-struck on perceiving that he was headless!--but his horror was still more increased on observing that the head, which should have rested on his shoulders, was carried before him on the pommel of his saddle!"

Washington Irving, The legend of Sleepy Hollow

An Ode to October

Crisp Autumn air, the smell of chili simmering on the stove, chuckling and chattering of friends around a campfire, jack-o-lantern carving, leaves falling, pumpkin ale and hot cider in hand, this is why fall is my favorite time of year. I never want it to end and it never comes back soon enough.

Here's to another great October!

Florists and Photoshop - inspiration, education, and a brief update

I did this shoot last August for He Loves Me Flowers by Charity.   Not only is Charity a genuinely kind-hearted person but also an incredibly talented florist, and it has been awesome to see her business grow as fast as it has.  Congrats on your success so far, Charity, and here's to many more years of it!

One of my favorite aspects of photography is the post processing; toying with the look of a photo to make it look exactly how I imagine it to.  I found a channel on youtube a while back that has taught me a lot about photoshop and helped me with this process, it's called Phlearn. It's awesome, it's free, check it out!

On a personal note, these past few months have been busy and crazy and they're all a blur to me now. A quick update; I got a new part-time job at a new cafe (so come by and get some coffee,) I haven't been doing as many shoots lately but I'm learning a lot in this season and the inspiration is piling up. I'm a featured artist in a gallery here in my home town (which is something I could foresee becoming a consistent thing in the future.) And I've got a new instillation to my Graveyard Series coming out this Halloween! New projects, new people, and I'm stoked to share it all.

Have a great week end and enjoy the photos.

Erin is starting a blog to promote her new jewelry business, and she asked me to take her promo shots. Then I got carried away and took a ton of photos, naturally. So here they are and I'll post links to Erin's business and blog as soon as they're up and running.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Fall has always been my favorite time of year. The orange missouri country side, jack-o-lanterns on every door step, the crisp autumn air.  I never want it to end. Photo shoots this time of year are my favorite too. Here are a couple frames from yesterdays family shoot. Check back soon for more updates.

The Graveyard Series.

Check out last year's edition here and get stoked for this October.

I've got a lot coming up,

it's going to be bigger and better that ever.

Stay tuned.

Josh & Kim

How time flies. I've known Josh & Kim through out most of their relationship.  They were there back when I decided to try out photography as a new hobby, they even modeled for me in pictures that I'm now ashamed to call my work (everyone has to start somewhere, right?) It's been a journey and I was honored when they asked me to do their engagement pictures.  Congratulations again, friends.  It's been a long time coming, but the best things in life are worth waiting for, I'd say.
